Tablet cushion or tablet stand? Choosing one for the sofa

Posted by on

Choosing a tablet stand starts with the place you will use it. A desk, a sofa and a bed are not interchangeable surfaces. Before focusing on colour or appearance, think about your device, its case and the way you like to sit.

We make the iCushion tablet cushion, so this is our guide to the decision, not an independent product test or a ranking of competing brands.

Start with the surface

For a desk, you may prefer a rigid stand designed for a flat surface, particularly when screen height or a specific angle matters. Check the individual stand’s adjustment range, supported weight and base dimensions.

For relaxed use on a sofa or in bed, a soft cushion-style stand may better suit the setting. It still needs careful positioning. Do not assume any cushion will remain stable on an uneven surface or under every device.

Check the device and case together

A product photograph is not a compatibility chart. Your tablet’s size and weight matter, and a thick protective case changes the shape resting on the stand.

Before buying, check the accessory’s stated fit information. Where a model is not listed, contact the seller with your exact tablet model and details of the case. This is particularly useful when choosing a gift for someone else.

Think about watching and touching

Watching a film is different from repeatedly tapping a game or typing a long message. Consider how often you will interact with the screen and whether that movement affects its position. Set the tablet down, check that it is supported, and test a few normal taps before settling in.

For a video call, check the camera angle as well as the screen angle. The position that works for reading may not be the view you want to send to the other person.

Know what you are buying

The original MobileToyz iCushion is a soft, lightweight tablet cushion with a velvet finish. It supports a tablet for reading, browsing and streaming around the home. It is not an electronic accessory, so the cushion itself does not need charging, pairing or an app.

It is also not a protective tablet case or a medical device. We do not present it as a treatment for pain or an alternative to taking breaks.

Set it up rather than guessing

The iCushion is supplied filled, and its front needs shaping before positioning the tablet. Follow our illustrated setup guide and contact us if the fit is not right. Make sure the device is supported before letting go.

A gift for everyday use

For someone who enjoys using their existing tablet at home, an accessory can be a more straightforward present than another gadget. Our red velvet iCushion is £24.95, plus delivery. The tablet is not included.
